Green councillors call for air pollution action in Shipley

The Green Party are demanding that Bradford Council do more to tackle illegal air pollution across Shipley.

Councillors Martin Love and Kevin Warnes met recently with Clean Air Bradford campaigners and the Council’s lead officer on air quality to review what needs to be done.

They were told that Bradford Council is considering options such as: extra support for electric vehicles along the Aire Valley corridor and the creation of a Clean Air Charging Zone for HGVs, vans, older buses and taxis.

Councillor Martin Love says, “Bradford Council needs to get to grips with the illegal levels of air pollution.

“The Clean Air Charging Zone needs to extend all the way through Shipley to the Bingley by-pass to protect local people from the pollution caused by the heavy traffic driving through our community.”
