Hawarun has represented Shipley for the Green Party on Bradford Council since 2004 and also served as Deputy Lord Mayor for the District..
She lives in Shipley with her husband and has two grown up children living in the area.
Hawarun spent her teenage years growing up in Keighley and after leaving former Greenhead school at 16, Hawarun worked as a community development worker for a local community centre for several years before beginning her NHS career.
She has specialized in Public Health in health promotion and recently gained a Masters degree in Healthcare Leadership at Birmingham University. Hawarun currently works for NHS England.
In addition to her duties as a District Councillor, Hawarun has served on the board of several local charitable organisations including the Nell Bank Centre Charitable Trust in Ilkley, Bradford Cinderella Club and Bradford Trident.
