The Green Party in Shipley and Bingley strongly opposes the new proposed development of a Research and Business Park on greenbelt land at Milnerfield.
Matt Edwards, Green Party spokesman for Bingley has condemned yet more development in the Shipley area: “it’s baffling why the already congested Aire Valley is being targeted for yet another business park.
“Congestion exacerbated by lorries and commercial vehicles is already unbearable for anyone commuting along Canal Road towards the city centre and onwards to the M62.”
“There are serious concerns about transportation to this new site. The roads around there, especially Dowley Gap Lane are too narrow for any further vehicle usage and the last thing we need is further traffic near Beckfoot School.”
The Leeds-Liverpool Canal between Saltaire and Five Rise Lock is one of the most important stretches of Victorian canal in the world and this development poses a significant risk to the preservation of Airedale’s industrial heritage.
