Bradford Green Party has reacted with disappointment that a Bradford Council Committee has voted to APPROVE a planning application to build 113 houses on Spen View Lane.
Opposition centred around not being enough doctors and schools in the local area, the increase in traffic along Shetcliffe Lane and the loss of valuable green space.
Objectors also raised the fact that comments from West Yorkshire Police on the security aspects of the development had been ignored by planning officers.
Matt Edwards, Bradford Green Party spokesperson for Tong Ward has been helping local people in opposing this application and has expressed frustration and disappointment with today's decision.
He says:
“Bradford Council is continuing to ignore the real concerns from local people about these large-scale developments on our green spaces.
“Residents are right in pointing out the impact this is going to have on schools, doctors and traffic but the planning system is designed to benefit the developers.
“Earlier this month, Bradford Council were rapped by the CPRE (Campaign to Protect Rural England) for not doing enough to encourage development on brownfield sites - but is it any wonder that developers continue to do it when committees - mostly made up of Labour councillors continue to approve flawed applications like this one.”
